Toyota advanced driving courses

I've always wanted to do an advanced driving course. The idea of having complete control over my vehicle (no matter what the situation) kind of intrigues me. I've always had a deep respect for people that have done these courses. I always feel safer in the car when the person behind the wheel has been trained to drive by professionals. My greatest disappointment has always been that most of these courses are run in German manufactured automobiles. Although the principles remain the same, I've always felt uncomfortable with the idea that the car you're learning these new skills in is not something that might be sitting in your garage at home.  read more »

Reading the fine print

Buying a car seems to be much easier than renting one on another continent.

When you buy a car you know it is for life and you get insurance before you drive off into the sunset with your new wheels.

Renting... well, every quote has fine print. Normal CDW may include the under carriage but not tyres. Super CDW may not be available from certain vendors - and who wants to be stuck with a excess of 2 000 Euros? (With the exchange rate we have.) Then you also have to check if there are any airport fees, road taxes and VAT.

My advice is, shop around. the cheapest quote might seem a little more attractive, but weigh up the pros and cons. I personally prefer to have super insurance that will see me get out and walk away without having to fork out thousands after an accident.  read more »

Safety first

Safety might seem like a dull topic, but no matter which way you slice it, when things go pear-shaped and your involved in an accident, safety will become a very important issue. So while the Auris has excellent performance, space, and good looks, a lot of emphasis has been placed on safety.

In fact, so much emphasis has been placed on safety that the Toyota Auris has been awarded a five star Euro NCAP rating. Not only that, the Toyota Auris has achieved the highest adult rating for its class. So you and your passengers can be assured that you will be as safe as can be. The Auris is also one of the industry leaders when it comes to child and pedestrian safety.  read more »

Interview with A6 Auris rally driver, Mohammed Moosa

I recently had the privilege of interviewing Mohammed Moosa, a rally privateer (one of the best). A very interesting person to talk to, he shares some of his experiences and thoughts on the rally world in general and what it's like being a privateer.
